Work From Home And The Sporting Calendar – Keeping Abreast of Your Favourite Sports Whilst Working

As the summer commences a whole range of sport events take off. Coming up are a brace of cricket test series in England, several further motor racing grand prix and the Wimbledon tennis fortnight. The test matches and Wimbledon are day long events. In 2012 in the region of three weeks of daily Olympic Games action will be added to the list. That’s not to ignore the on going sports competition from other parts of world, such as cricket from the Caribbean and the Rugby Union World Cup from down under in September. And with growing media coverage of such important sporting spectacles, including online broadcasting, there has been a growing habit of following sport whilst at work. For those who work from home maybe carrying out Online jobs, this can be done with a clear conscience. If you work from home you acquire the right to arrange your day to your choosing, including watching some of your favourite sport if you like.

But for those who do not Work from home matters can be rather different. Although it is usually quite straightforward to get coverage to be streamed to a window on your desktop you may find your bosses frown on the practice. Employers might consider this will distract you from your job, even if is quite discreet with the sound switched off. They could even disapprove of those very simple scoreboards which give no sound but just occasional score updates. Alternatively they could imagine this is good for office morale. Also work colleagues, in particular those who do not follow sport, are quite likely to disapprove. They are likely to believe you are not pulling your weight and this can result in workplace tension.

In conclusion, when you work from home you can do as you please, but if not it is most likely a good idea to obtain permission before windowing sports commentary onto your office PC screen.
